Growing up with martial arts
Bruno Carvalho comes from Salvador, Bahia. His own biography describes a family shaped by martial arts: grandfather Francisco de Magalhães Pinto, Mestre Ciro; uncles Edson and Ricardo Carvalho; and a mother who practised judo. A 2011 MMA Viking interview names his mother as Cristiane Carvalho Pinto and describes his training with her, his grandfather and uncle Edson. Bruno reports receiving his BJJ black belt from his uncles in 2004.
From Bahia to Sweden
Bruno’s biography dates his move to Europe to 2006, when he pursued a career in MMA. Sweden became an important base: the 2011 MMA Viking interview places him in Gothenburg and discusses his training and professional fighting career. That connection makes his chapter especially close to the city where our academy is now starting its own story.
Competition and the next chapter
Tapology records Bruno’s professional MMA career at fifteen wins and eleven losses; his own biography says he retired from MMA in 2016. Our academy’s lineage places Bruno as the professor before Alan Carlos. The next chapter is about Alan’s own competition experience and how he brings that teaching connection to Team Carvalho Göteborg.
